Title6H10.u1 - Malus' Law
Objective

If a polarizer and analyzer have their transmission axes at some angle relative to each other, the transmitted intensity is related to the original intensity by Malus' law.

Assembly Instructions

Instructions
Hook up the light meter so the output is displayed on a multimeter. Place the two polaroids in the beam of the projector and analyze the beam at various points. As the polaroids are rotated through various orientations, Malus' Law can be demonstrated. Once all components are assembled: Turn both polarizers to 0.  Set Lux meter to 200.  Then turn up voltage across LED until Lux meter reads 100.  This will make it easy to calculate percentages when Polarizer angles are varied.
