6B40.50 - Blackbody Radiation in Visible Spectrum
To show how peak wavelength changes with temperature of a blackbody.
Set up telescope with the cover over the lens, removing the central circular piece from the cover. Attach the Ocean Optics spectrum analyzer to the telescope and open up the program on the computer. Place the variac & light bulb across the lecture hall from the telescope. Start with the variac low and view the spectrum. Then turn up the variac and watch the spectrum shift to a shorter wavelength.
