Title5L20.20 - Power vs. Frequency (Export Version)
Objective

Demonstrate how power varies with frequency in an RLC circuit.

StatusAvailable
Assembly Instructions

Instructions
A capacitor, a lightbulb, a resistor and an inductor are all connected in series with a function generator and a speaker. The light bulb is a visual indication of the power consumed by the circuit. The frequency is heard through a speaker and the exact value can be read off of the function generator. The different circuit components can be taken out and rearranged to make RL, RC, LC, and RLC circuits.

Frequency Ranges when in following circuit patterns:

RLC = ~100Hz

RC = x > 100Hz

RL = 0Hz < x < 110Hz

LC = 50Hz < x < 250Hz
