Title5J20.10 - Build-Up and Decay of Current in an Inductor
Objective

Demonstrate the build-up and decay of current in an inductor on an oscilloscope.

StatusAvailable
Assembly Instructions

Replace the capacitor in the LCR circuit board with a short lead.  Connect the function generator in series with the resistor and inductor. Set the function generator to a square wave output. Connect the four channel oscilloscope to the projector and display the voltage across the function generator, voltage across the resistor, and voltage across the inductor.

Operation Instructions

The resistance is usuall set at ~50kohm and the inductance is usually set to 10H. Increasing the resistance will decrease the voltage decay time, decreasing resistance will increase decay time. Decreasing inductance will decrease the voltage decay time.
