Iron heated to its Curie point loses its magnetism

Assembly Instructions

Place the Curie point dropper aparatus on top of the metal mesh sheet so that the hot nail doesn't burn the table. Also provide a propane torch and a pair of pliers.

Operation Instructions

Click on the propane torch and heat the point end of the nail (do not heat the magnet). When the nail reaches the curie point it will drop off the magnet and fall on the metal grid. The Curie point of iron is 1043K, 770° C, or 1,420° F. After a few seconds, the nail will cool below the curie point and can be reattached to the magnet (use the pliers)
