Instructions
This demo is a two-dimensional model for kinetic theory which uses ping pong balls kept in motion by a motor-driven agitator to represent molecules. The top piston is free to move between the slides and is partially counter-balanced with a lead weight. Connect the motor to a variac and slowly turn the variac up. As the speed increases, the speed of the balls increases and they slowly push up the piston due to the increased momentum transfer.
