Instructions
There is a 1-m tube that contains lead shot. One end has a hole drilled for a thermocouple probe that can be inserted to measure the temperature difference before and after the lead shot has been shaken. The best way to shake the tube is quickly flip it over and over for about a minute (~60 turns), and let the shot drop the length of the 1 meter tube, count the number of times it drops. You can then have the students calculate the energy and predict the temperature rise if desired.
