Title3A60.51 - Normal Modes In A Bar At Resonance
Objective

Demonstrates the various vibrational modes in a flat bar when excited at different resonant frequencies.

StatusAvailable
Assembly Instructions

Attach the flat bar with banana plug attachment into its mate ontop of the Pasco Mechanical Vibrator. Make sure the device is locked before inserting the banana plug to prevent damaging the pisco mechanical vibrator. If being used in the lecture halls, put a camera on the demo with a backplane.

**Make sure Pasco Mechanical Vibrator is unlocked before Instructor use!**

Operation Instructions

Set the frequency generator to 1 Hz and 3V output, and begin increasing the frequency until a resonant mode vibration is achieved. It has been found that 3 Hz, 19 Hz, and 59 Hz are modes 1, 2, and 3 respectively.
