1E30.u3 - Coriolis Effect with Turntable
To demonstrate the coriolis effect on a turntable, viewed from above.
Using the aluminum variable turntable, connect the aluminum disk to the central post. Connect the acrylic disk to the turntable using the locator pin. Attach the power supply and multi-meter to the turntable and position a camera on a bench clamp above the table looking down. Once ready, turn on the turntable, allow for the setup to reach full speed. Using the ball launcher, roll a ball down the launcher and observe its motion as it travels on the rotating tabletop.
With the turntable rotating at full speed and the camera ported up to the screens for the students to see, place the ball launcher in the correct position. Roll a ball down the launcher and observe the motion of the ball.
