1D50.20-1 - Centripetal Force Demonstrator - Fancy Version
Demonstrate how centripetal forces can raise another mass.
A mass is free to slide on a smooth rod which is rotated about its center in a horizontal circle. This mass is connected to another by way of a string and pulley which can move up and down the vertical axis of rotation. Thus if the centripetal force on the spinning mass is high enough, it can lift the center mass. The demonstration is set up so that the center mass turns on a light when it is lifted. The light is easily observed by the class.
