1A10.56 - Density of Elemental Solids
To compare the densities of various metal blocks by looking at their masses and how the results match the position on periodic table.
Set up camera on the read out of the digital pan scale. Use appropriate scale based on heaviest block. Pull out the box containing aluminum, graphite, steel, and lead. Provide disposible gloves for handling the lead brick.
Make sure the camera output is visible to the audience. Place the blocks one at a time on the scale and observe the difference in masses. The kit contains: Aluminum, Graphite (carbon), Steel (iron), Lead.
Density = Mass/Volume. Since the volume is the same, then relative density comparisons can be made by comparing the mass of each object
