Overview
The maximum sustained human energy output is close to .3 Hp or about 225 Watts (Gossomar Albatros Piloted by amateur cyclist Bryan Allen). Maximum human output is on the order of 600 W (Lance Armstrong) for a short burst. The energy output (of the load bulbs) is calibrated to a dial reading of 60 rpm or one complete revolution of the pedals per second.
Instructions
This energy bike is a human-powered generator connected to a lamp bank. The lamps can be switched on or off to give the desired electric load. The more lamps that are switched on, the more load is produced, requiring the victim to pedal harder. Start with one bulb on, then switch on three more while pedaling to feel the effect of the load.
